COL BKB: San Diego St. 70, Kansas St. 52
Kyle Spain scored 16 points Friday and San Diego State blew the game open in the second half to defeat Kansas State 70-52 in the NIT’s second round.
The Aztecs (25-9) advance to next week’s quarterfinals, where they will play the winner of Monday’s game between Davidson and St. Mary’s.
The game was tied at 27-27 in the opening minute of the second half, but San Diego State outscored the Wildcats by 22 minutes over the next 12 minutes. Although Spain made only 5-of-13 shots from the field, San Diego State shot 53 percent as a whole.
Billy White made all five of his shots from the field while scoring 16 points.
Kansas State (22-12) was led by Denis Clemente with 12.
