Sherron Collins scored 25 points Sunday, carrying Kansas to a 60-43 second-round NCAA Tournament victory over Dayton in Minneapolis.

In a low-scoring first half, the Jayhawks (27-7), the defending national champions and the third seed in the Midwest Region, took a 29-23 lead into the locker room.

A 9-0 run, capped by Tyshawn Taylor’s layup, gave KU a 44-30 advantage with 8:33 remaining and a determined Dayton had no answer the rest of the way.

The Jayhawks’ 6-foot-11, 245-pound sophomore center, Cole Aldrich, dominated underneath with a triple-double — 13 points, 20 rebounds and 10 blocked shots.

KU next plays either Michigan State or Southern California at the Sweet 16 Friday at Indianapolis.

Chris Wright and Mickey Wright, the only players to reach double figures, scored 10 points each to lead the 11th-seeded Flyers (27-8), who had advanced by upsetting No. 6 seed West Virginia 68-60 in the first round.
