NHL: Detroit 3, Edmonton 2
Goals by Marian Hossa and Valtteri Filppula in the space of 32 seconds in Tuesday's third period rallied the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 win over Edmonton.
Ty Conklin turned in 24 saves for Detroit, which won for the fifth time in its last six games and took over first place in the Western Conference by one point over idle San Jose.
Denis Grebeshkov and Ales Kotalik tallied for the host Oilers. Dwayne Roloson allowed three goals on 44 shots.
Edmonton took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Grebeshkov, who sailed a slap shot from the left circle past Conklin at 18:49.
Detroit tied the game on rookie Jonathan Ericsson's goal midway through the third period, spoiling what had been a perfect run for Roloson.
With the score knotted a 1-1, Hossa tallied his 37th goal of the season at 18:02. He was followed by teammate Fippula's goal on a rebound half a minute later, which gave Detroit the 3-1 lead.
Fippula's goal turned out to be the game winner after Kotalik scored from the slot with a minute to play to make it 3-2.
