NCAA Tournament resumes Thursday
The NCAA Tournament, highlighted to this point by the showing of the powerhouse teams, resumes Thursday.
Regional semifinal action will take place in Boston and Glendale, Ariz. It will feature three of the five Big East Conference teams still alive in the chase for the national championship.
The activity begins with Connecticut facing Purdue in Glendale and Pittsburgh taking on Xavier in Boston. Memphis will then play Missouri in Glendale and Duke will tackle Villanova in Boston.
Connecticut and Pittsburgh are seeded No. 1 in their regions.
After the opening two rounds of games last weekend, only one team seeded lower than a No. 5 is still playing. That team is Arizona, seeded 12th in the Indianapolis region and a winner thus far over Utah and Cleveland State.
All the first, second and third-seeded teams made it through the first two rounds. The highest seeds to be eliminated have been Washington and Wake Forest, which had been fourth in their regions.
Friday’s action will find Louisville playing Arizona and Michigan State meeting Kansas in Indianapolis and Oklahoma facing Syracuse and North Carolina matched up against Gonzaga in Memphis.
