Danny Granger helped Indiana open a 10-point lead in the fourth period Wednesday and the Pacers held on to nip Miami 90-88.

Miami scored the game’s last eight points, closing within two when James Jones hit a pair of free throws with 41 seconds remaining.

When Granger missed a layup attempt with 23 seconds left, Miami had a chance to pull out a tie or a win, but Udonis Haslem missed a baseline jumper with 7.5 seconds to play.

Mario Chalmers was able to grab an offensive rebound, keeping Miami’s hopes alive, but Dwyane Wade’s 3-point try just before the buzzer bounced off the front rim and the backboard before falling away.

Granger scored 10 of his 28 points in the fourth period as part of the Indiana surge. T.J. Ford added 20 points for the Pacers, who have beaten Miami 14 straight times in Indianapolis.

Miami, fifth in the Eastern Conference, saw its lead over No. 6 Philadelphia dwindle to a half game.

Wade made just 5-of-24 shots from the field and scored 21 points. Haslem had 18 and Jermaine O’Neal 13.
