Ex-recruit’s surgery payment questioned

Media outlets in Tampa, Fla., are reporting that ex-Connecticut student manager turned sports agent Josh Nochimson paid for former recruit Nate Miles's surgery.

The report comes from the Tampa Tribune and Tampa's 1010 CBS Sports radio at a time when the NCAA is investigating the Big East Conference school to determine if any rules were violated during Miles's recruitment.

Citing privacy laws, the reason for the procedure was not disclosed by the school.

Miles was expelled last October and never played or practiced with the Huskies. He was arrested by campus police and issued a restraining order after a female student accused him of physical and sexual assault.

Later, he made contact with the woman, leading to felony charges of violating a restraining order.

Miles is a member of the team at the College of Southern Idaho, a junior college.

University outside counsel and administrators are continuing to review the article to determine if additional action is required, UConn said in a statement.
