Kjeldsen on top at Seville golf tournament
Soren Kjeldsen equaled a course record with a 10-under-par 62 Saturday and has a one-stroke lead at the Open de Andalucia golf tournament in Seville, Spain.
The Dane’s 54-hole total at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla course, 14-under 202, is one better than Scotland’s David Drysdale (66).
Today was fantastic,
Kjeldsen said after his 62 matched the 18-hole tournament record set by Miguel Angel Jimenez in 1999. I came out today with no pressure on myself. I knew I had to play well today. As a round goes, I probably played as good as I ever have.
It was the lowest single-round total in Kjeldsen’s career. His round included seven consecutive birdies from the seventh and a 45-foot eagle putt at the par-five 16th hole.
Drysdale moved into contention with an eagle and two birdies at his final three holes.
At 10-under 206 and tied for third are Spain’s Carlos Del Moral (69) and Alastair Forsyth (68) of Scotland.
