COL BKB (W): Stanford 84, Ohio St. 66
Jayne Appel scored 25 points to lead Stanford to an 84-66 win over Ohio State Saturday in the regional semifinals of the Women's NCAA Tournament.
Appel, who shot 11-of-20 from the field for the second-seeded Cardinals (32-4), also grabbed 11 rebounds and was one of four players to score in double figures for Stanford. Jillian Harmon added 16 points, six assists and four steals, followed by Nnemkadi Ogwumike and Rosalyn Gold-Onwude with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
The third-seeded Buckeyes (29-6) were paced by Samantha Prahalis with 19 points and six assists, Jantel Lavender chalked up15 points and six boards and Sarah Schulze scored12 points off the bench in the setback.
With the victory at Berkeley, Calif., the Cardinals will now face off against fourth-seeded Iowa State Monday in the regional final for the right to advance to the Final Four in St. Louis next weekend.
