NHL: Calgary 2, Dallas 1
Miikka Kiprusoff made 29 saves Thursday and enhanced Calgary’s division title hopes by carrying the Flames to a 2-1 win over Dallas.
Calgary began the night one point behind Vancouver for the top spot in the Northwest Division. Vancouver took on Anaheim later in the evening.
The Flames also jumped past idle Chicago, which had started the night in fourth place in the Western Conference.
Dallas, which has lost eight of nine games, was virtually eliminated from playoff contention.
Jarome Iginla and Craig Conroy scored for the Flames, who have won two of three. Conroy delivered the game-winning goal with 7:39 left in the second period.
The Stars’ goal came from Fabian Brunnstrom just 3:02 into the contest.
The teams split their four meetings this season.
