Novak Djokovic rallied for a three-sets win over Roger Federer Friday, leaving the Sony Ericsson Open title match without either of the world’s top two players.

Djokovic, ranked third in the world behind Rafael Nadal and Federer, pulled out a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory. It was his third win over Federer in 10 tries.

Andy Murray earned a championship meeting Sunday with Djokovic by defeating Juan Martin Del Potro in the other semifinal 6-1, 5-7, 6-2. Del Potro had eliminated Nadal in the quarterfinals.

The semifinals were conducted in blustery winds that left all four players struggling with their timing. Federer appeared to have the most problems and became so frustrated he threw his racket late in the match.

Djokovic’s most recent win over Federer had come in the 2008 Australian Open semifinals. Djokovic went on to win that tournament for his first major title.

He will be trying to win his fifth Masters series championship.

Murray faced only two break points in his match with Del Potro, but lost both of them. Murray, however, broke Del Potro five times in 11 chances.

The women’s championship match will be held Saturday between Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka.
