Perry ties Campbell for Masters lead
Kenny Perry shot 5-under-par 67 Friday and tied Chad Campbell for first place through 36 holes at the Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta (Ga.) National.
Both players finished two rounds with totals of 9-under 135 and lead 2007 U.S. Open champion Angel Cabrera (68) by one stroke.
In his ninth Masters appearance, the 48-year-old Perry started his second round with a 10-foot birdie putt at the first hole and closed the day with a tap-in birdie at 18.
Along the way, he benefited from Campbell’s bogeys at No. 11, 12 and 17. At the 10th, Campbell held a five-stroke cushion.
I didn’t know how many I was up by,
he admitted.
Everything is a bonus at this stage of my life,
said Perry, who has missed the last five cuts at Augusta.
Two-time majors winner Padraig Harrington (73) is part of a group tied for 19th with Tiger Woods (72) at 2-under 142.
