MLB: Philadelphia 7, Colorado 5
Late two-run homers Sunday by Chase Utley and Matt Stairs lifted Philadelphia to a 7-5 win over Colorado.
Utley’s shot with none out in the top of the eighth inning created a 5-5 tie, and Stairs, batting for winner Ryan Madson (1-0) launched the game-winner with one out in the ninth.
Utley led the attack with three runs and two hits.
Jayson Werth hit two RBI singles, while Ryan Howard added a run and three hits for the Phillies, who won twice in the three-game series.
Brad Lidge earned his second save despite a hit and a walk in the bottom of the ninth.
Colorado, which blew an early 4-0 lead, scored on Clint Barmes’ two-run first-inning single, Brad Hawpe’s first-inning double, Garrett Atkins’ first-inning single and Dexter Fowler’s solo homer in the second.
The losing pitcher was closer Huston Street (0-1).
Both clubs have split their first six games.
