Henrik Lunqvist’s third career playoff shutout Saturday keyed the New York Rangers’ 1-0 win over Washington in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference matchup.

The Rangers will carry a 2-0 lead over the listless Capitals when the opening-round series resumes Monday at Madison Square Garden.

They left a frustrated, sellout crowd at the Verizon Center booing slightly in the end.

Lindqvist stopped all 35 shots he faced, while Ryan Callahan scored the lone goal at 7:44 of the first period after assists from Markus Naslund and Brandon Dubinsky.

The defensive-minded Rangers took 23 of their 24 shots against rookie goaltender Simeon Varlamov, who played in place of the inconsistent Jose Theodore.

Rangers captain Chris Drury returned after missing Game 1 with an undisclosed injury.

Neither side scored on the power play with New York going 0-for-5 and Washington 0-for-3.
