Bengie Molina's 10th-inning ground-rule double produced the lone run Wednesday in the San Francisco Giants' 1-0 win over the San Diego Padres.
Giants starter Barry Zito and closer Brian Wilson combined on the shutout. Zito scattered six hits in seven scoreless innings with no walks and five strikeouts. Wilson (1-0) picked up the win by throwing two scoreless innings with one hit.
Molina, batting for Emmanuel Burris with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, stroked a long fly ball to left-center field off losing pitcher Edwin Moreno (0-2) to score Andres Torres, who had stolen second base.
Molina's double was just San Francisco's fourth hit. The others were by Torres, Trevor Ishikawa and Pablo Sandoval.
Scott Hairston had two of San Diego's eight hits. Six others had one hit for the Padres, who have lost three in a row.
San Diego's hard-luck starter Chris Young allowed just two hits and four walks in seven scoreless innings. He struck out three Giants.
