MLB: Boston 7, Minnesota 3 (2nd Game)

Jeff Bailey's three-run homer in the second Wednesday started Boston on its way to a 7-3 win over Minnesota and a sweep of a day-night doubleheader.

Boston won the opener 10-1 in a game shortened by rain. The showers forced a 47-minute delay in the start of the night contest, but did not slow down the Red Sox in pursuit of what was their seventh straight win.

David Ortiz contributed a two-run double in the third that advanced the Boston lead to 5-0 and that was enough for Brad Penny to improve his record to 2-0. Penny allowed six hits and two earned runs over six innings.

Justin Morneau went 2-for-3 with a homer for the Twins, who had swept three from the Los Angeles Angels before arriving in Boston. Francisco Liriano (0-4) suffered the loss, giving up seven runs on four hits over four innings.
