Russell Branyan drove in four runs Saturday, helping the Seattle Mariners record a 9-8 victory against the Los Angeles Angels.

One of Branyan’s three hits was a three-run first-inning homer and one was a seventh-inning RBI single.

Five other Mariners had one RBI, including Wladimir Balentien, who launched a solo homer in the fourth among his two hits. Ichiro Suzuki scored once and, like Branyan, had three hits.

Winner Carlos Silva (1-2) yielded three earned runs and six hits in five innings before David Aardsma, the last of five pitchers, earned his third save after finally quelling a ninth-inning rally.

The Mariners go after a three-game sweep in Anaheim Sunday.

Bobby Abreu and Torii Hunter both knocked in two for the Angels, with Hunter hitting a two-run homer in the ninth to get the Angels within 9-8.

One of two hits for Kendry Morales was a solo homer in the fourth and Abreu also had two hits for the Angels, who have lost six of eight.

The losing pitcher was starter Anthony Ortega (0-1).
