MLB: San Francisco 5, LA Dodgers 4

Posted on: Tuesday, 28 April 2009, 01:08 CDT

Pinch-hitter Bengie Molina drove in the winning run with an eighth-inning groundout Monday and the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4.

The Dodgers had overcome a 3-0 deficit with a four-run seventh but the Giants took advantage of Dodgers' miscues to score twice in the eighth and San Francisco closer Brian Wilson struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the win and post his fourth save.

Edgar Renteria had two hits and scored two runs for the Giants, who have won six of their last seven games.

Starter Barry Zito gave up three runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings. Merkin Valdez (1-0) got the win, giving up one run on two hits in 1 2/3 innings of relief.

Casey Blake hit a two-run homer and Manny Ramirez had two hits and one RBI for the Dodgers, who have lost two straight after winning three in a row.

LA starter Randy Wolf yielded three runs on six hits with four strikeouts over six innings.

Ronald Belisario (0-2) took the loss, giving up two runs on two hits.
