Two-run singles by Garret Anderson and Chipper Jones helped stake Atlanta to an early lead Wednesday and the Braves held on to defeat Florida 8-6.

The Braves ended a four-game losing streak, jumping to an 8-3 advantage through 2 1/2 innings. Florida has lost five out of six.

Anderson’s two-run single came as part of a four-run second inning. He also drove in a run with a ground out in the first.

A single by Jones finished off a three-run third for the Braves, who built enough of a lead to get Derek Lowe (4-1) the victory.

Lowe allowed six runs on seven hits in five innings, then saw four relievers work a scoreless inning each. The last of those was Mike Gonzalez, who earned his fourth save.

The Marlins wasted a five-RBI effort by Jorge Cantu, who hit a three-run homer in the first to give Florida a brief lead.

Graham Taylor (0-2), in his third major league start, gave up all eight runs on seven hits in 2 1/3 innings.
