Report: Death threat against Capitals star
A teenager from Chambersburg, Pa., has been questioned about a threat against Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said.
The boy was not named because he is a juvenile, but the newspaper reported that the Capitals notified Pittsburgh police about the threat Wednesday night after discovering the threat on a Penguins Web site message board.
I’m killing Ovechkin, Pittsburgh Lt. Kevin Kraus told the newspaper about its content.
I’ll go to jail. I don’t care anymore.
Based on the severity of the threat, we are taking it very seriously, Kraus told the newspaper Wednesday.
Kraus said there was no indication the teen came to Pittsburgh for Wednesday night’s game nor that he will be in Pittsburgh when the teams play Game 4 Friday night at Mellon Arena.
The Capitals lead the best-of-seven series 2-1 and Ovechkin recorded a hat trick (three goals) in Washington’s 4-3 Game 2 victory.
Pittsburgh won 3-2 in overtime Wednesday.
