Vanscik wins big at the Italian Open
Argentina’s Daniel Vanscik used a 6-under-par 65 Sunday to record an impressive six-stroke victory at the Italian Open golf tournament in Torino, Italy.
His 72-hole total, 17-under 265, gave him his second win on the European Tour.
The other was by seven at the 2007 Madeira Islands Open in Madeira, Portugal.
My putting was fantastic, Vanscik said.
I played more aggressive. I haven’t played really well the last few months, but I changed many things in my swing. Now my goal is to get into a major.
American John Daly, a two-time major champion, shot 5-under 66 in the closing round and, at 11-under 273, shared second place with Raphael Jacquelin (68) of France and England’s Robert Rock (68).
South Africa’s Thomas Aiken, who was tied for third after Thursday’s first round, closed with a 1-under 70, and at 10-under 274, finished alone in fifth.
