Henrik Stenson shot a 6-under 66 Sunday to win the PGA Players Championship in Florida by four shots over Ian Poulter.

The Swede left Tiger Woods and rest of the field in the dust as Woods failed to mount a charge of his own and wound up shooting a one-over 73 that consigned him to eighth place.

While Woods sputtered with bogeys on two of the first four holes at TPC Sawgrass, Stenson was on fire. He did not bogey a hole and was coldly efficient with his putter.

Saturday’s leader, Alex Cejka, who was paired with Woods, fell apart and saw his five-stroke lead evaporate as Stenson closed in and passed him.

Stenson parred his first six holes and then ran home a 16-foot birdie putt from the fringe at the seventh.
