Elijah Dukes had two hits and three RBI Wednesday to lead the Washington Nationals to a 6-2 win over the San Francisco Giants.


His timely hitting came in spite of a base running gaffe in the top of the fourth when he was caught trying to steal third base.


Washington’s Ryan Zimmerman went hitless in three at-bats and had baseball’s longest hitting streak this season end at 30 consecutive games.


Nick Johnson had four hits and two RBI.


Christian Guzman had a two runs and three hits, while Josh Willingham added a ninth-inning RBI double for the Nationals, who averted a three-game sweep.


Winner Shairon Martis (5-0) yielded a run and just two hits in seven innings.


Kip Wells, the last of three pitchers, earned his second save.


Three San Francisco players had one RBI.


Edgar Renteria had two of the six hits for the Giants, who had won three straight.


The losing pitcher was starter Barry Zito (1-3).
