MLB: LA Angels 8, Boston 4
Mike Napoli helped erase a four-run deficit with a three-run homer in the third inning Wednesday and the Los Angeles Angels went on to down Boston 8-4.
The Angels won for the eighth time in 11 games, with Matt Palmer rebounding from a rough start to go the distance.
Palmer (4-0) gave up a two-run homer to Jason Bay in the first inning and was touched for two more runs in the second. He then settled down to throw the first complete game of his career, which consists of just seven starts over two seasons with San Francisco and the Angels.
The Red Sox managed only five hits off Palmer, who struck out eight.
Los Angeles climbed out of its hole with a five-run third off losing pitcher Tim Wakefield (4-2).
Reggie Willits opened the inning with an infield single, stole second and, after Bobby Abreu walked, scored on Torii Hunter’s single. Kendry Morales singled home Abreu, after which Napoli hit his sixth home run of the season.
Hunter added a solo homer in the fourth.
