MLB: Detroit 14, Oakland 1
May 15, 2009
Ryan Raburn and Brandon Inge hit grand slam homers Friday, allowing Detroit to coast to a rainy, 14-1 bashing of Oakland.
The game was delayed by showers at the start for an hour and for just over an hour again in the fourth.
Raburn’s grand slam came as part of a five-run first inning and Inge hit his in the sixth to make it 13-1. Both Raburn and Inge drove in five runs overall and the Tigers pounded out 13 hits while breaking a three-game losing streak.
Oakland had scored a total of 19 runs in its two previous games, but was limited to one by Edwin Jackson.
Jackson (3-2) allowed six hits and struck out six over seven innings. Brett Anderson (0-4) took the loss, although only three of the nine runs he allowed were earned.
