Solo home runs by Scott Hairston and Nick Hundley were all the San Diego Padres needed to hold off the San Francisco Giants 2-1 Tuesday.
Chris Young (3-2) turned in six solid innings for the Padres while Heath Bell set down the Giants in order in the ninth for his 10th save of the season.
Barry Zito (1-4) gave up both runs in San Francisco's fifth loss in the past six games. Randy Winn had three of the Giants' six hits.
Young was staked to a 2-0 lead early in the game as Hairston homered in the first and Hundley followed suit in the second.
The Giants scored their lone run in the sixth when Fred Lewis walked with one out, moved to second on an infield single by Rich Aurilia and came home on Emannuel Burriss's ground out.
Greg Burke and Edward Mujica held San Francisco to one hit over the next two innings before turning it over to Bell to close out the night.
