The body of Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Scott Schoeneweis's wife was discovered Wednesday in their home in Fountain Hills, Ariz., police said.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that 39-year-old Gabrielle Dawn Schoeneweis was found on the floor of the master bedroom in the family's suburban Phoenix home shortly after noon.
The couple's 14-year-old daughter called the sheriff's office to report she had found her mother lying there unresponsive.
A cause of death had not been determined and Schoeneweis left the team in Miami, where it was facing the Florida Marlins.
Information on his return was not disclosed.
The release added while police were not ruling anything out, they were not treating it as a homicide.
The medical examiner was to determine the cause of death.
