A wild pitch by Joel Hanrahan allowed Freddy Sanchez to score in the ninth inning Friday, giving Pittsburgh a 2-1 win over Washington.

Pittsburgh has won the first three games of the four-game series and has five straight victories overall.

The game had been deadlocked at 1-1 since the fifth, but Delwyn Young opened the ninth with a single off Hanrahan (0-2) and Sanchez delivered a base hit one out later.

Nate McLouth also singled to load the bases, but Washington gave itself a chance to get out of the inning when Brandon Moss grounded into a force play that resulted in Young being thrown out at home.

That brought up Adam LaRoche, who had a 2-2 count on him when Hanrahan uncorked the critical wild pitch.

John Grabow (2-0) worked a perfect eighth inning to get the win and Matt Capps came on in the ninth to pick up his eighth save.

Washington has lost seven in a row and has a major league low 11 victories for the season.
