U.S. Olympian Kerri Walsh, who won a beach volleyball gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics, exclusively confirmed to People she has given birth to a son.
Walsh, who took home a 2008 women's beach volleyball gold medal with teammate Misty May-Treanor, said she and her 33-year-old husband, fellow volleyball player Casey Jennings, were thrilled over the birth of their son, Joseph Michael Jennings, People magazine's Web site reported Saturday.
We could not be more thrilled to welcome Joseph into the world,
Walsh, 30, told People of Friday's birth in Los Angeles. It's the most incredible feeling. We are already so in love with him and it's such an amazing, special moment for our family.
The birth of Joseph, who weighed in at 8 pounds, 10 ounces, comes in the wake of Walsh's hopeful comments about becoming a mother.
It's more beautiful and more special than I ever thought possible,
the Olympian told People earlier this month.
