Cain (7-1) allowed a run on five hits to get the win. Ross Detwiler (0-2) was also still in the game when it ended, but he coughed up four runs on 10 hits.

The game was tied at 1-1 going into the fifth, but San Francisco moved in front on a lead-off double by Emmanuel Burriss and a one-out single by Aaron Rowand. Edgar Renteria followed with a single, sending Rowand to third. Pablo Sandoval then doubled home Rowand and Rich Aurilia’s single delivered Renteria with the final run.
