MLB: Texas 5, Boston 1
Ian Kinsler hit a three-run homer and Kevin Millwood limited Boston to a run over seven innings Friday, boosting Texas past the Red Sox 5-1.
The Rangers won at Fenway Park for the first time in nine tries.
Texas managed only an infield single off Brad Penny (5-2) through the first four innings, but broke through for four runs in the fifth.
Marlon Byrd reached on a one-out, infield hit and Chris Davis singled him to second. With two out, Elvis Andrus drove in Byrd with a single and Kinsler followed with his 15th homer of the season.
Millwood (5-4) and the Texas bullpen took over from there, moving the Rangers back to 10 games over .500 and drawing them even with the New York Yankees for the best record in the American League.
Millwood allowed seven hits and struck out five. Eddie Guardado worked the eighth and Darren O’Day pitched a scoreless ninth despite walking two batters.
