MLB: LA Dodgers 3, Phila. 2 (12 inn.)
Andre Ethier homered in the bottom of the 12th inning Saturday to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 3-2 victory over Philadelphia.
Ethier, batting with two out in the 12th, hit his second home run of the game over the center field wall.
Ethier’s first homer gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead but the Phillies went ahead 2-1 in the seventh on a two-run pinch-hit single by Matt Stairs. Los Angeles sent the game into extra innings when Rafael Furcal had a pinch-hit, one-out solo shot off Brad Lidge in the ninth to tie the game.
It was the second game in a row in which Lidge entered the ninth with a one-run lead and failed to hold it, as he blew the save for the sixth time this season.
Cory Wade (1-3) earned the win after keeping the Phillies scoreless over the last two innings.
Chad Durbin (1-2) took the loss after holding the Dodgers scoreless for two innings prior to Ethier’s homer.
LA starter Hiroki Kuroda allowed just two hits and no runs in six innings in the Dodgers’ fourth win in five games.
Phillies’ starter Joe Blanton went six innings, allowing one run on five hits.
