San Diego State's Strasburg No. 1 in draft

Washington selected San Diego State's Stephen Strasburg Tuesday with the first overall pick in the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Strasburg's exploits this past season attracted the Nationals, who were hoping for a top pitching prospect. He was considered the best prospect in the draft era. After pitching in the Olympics.he was 13-1 for San Diego State this season while leading the nation's major college pitchers in strikeouts (195) and ranking second in ERA (1.32).
In three years at San Diego State, Strasburg had a 1.59 ERA, with 375 strikeouts and 50 walks in 243 1/3 innings. His fastball has been clocked at more than 100 mph.
Strasburg is represented by agent Scott Boras, who has stated that the right-hander will receive the highest contract and bonus ever handed out.
