Shin-Soo Choo had three hits and three RBI Friday, propelling the Cleveland Indians to a 7-3 inter-league win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Choo’s first-inning RBI single produced the game’s first run and his two-run single upped Cleveland’s lead to 4-1 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Victor Martinez hit a two-run eighth-inning double, while Mark DeRosa and Jamey Carroll added two hits apiece for the Indians, who have won three of four.
Winner David Huff (2-2) gave up three runs and six hits in 7 1/3 innings with two walks and five strikeouts.
Albert Pujols led St. Louis with two hits — one a fourth-inning solo homer — and two RBI. Ryan Ludwick had one RBI for the Cardinals, who have split their last four contests.
The homer by Pujols was his 20th this season.
Losing pitcher Joel Pineiro (5-7) yielded three runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings with two walks and six strikeouts.
