Olympic marathon runner Irina Bogacheva was arrested over the weekend after allegedly biting a Florida police officer's hand, records indicate.
Gainesville, Fla., police documents say Bogacheva, who represented Kyrgyzstan in the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics, was booked Saturday on charges of battery on an officer and resisting an officer after an alleged confrontation at a Gainesville grocery store, The Gainesville Sun reported Tuesday.
The police report indicated that Officer Juan Decastro said Bogacheva appeared intoxicated and he was attempting to assist her by offering her a ride home when she allegedly tried to grab his radio microphone and bit his finger.
The newspaper said the Olympian was released from jail Monday after posting bail.
