MLB: San Francisco 6, Texas 4

June 20, 2009

A two-run homer by Fred Lewis gave San Francisco the lead in the sixth inning Friday and the Giants went on to defeat Texas 6-4 in inter-league play.

The home run by Lewis was one of three for the Giants, who ended a three-game losing streak.

San Francisco improved its home record against the Rangers to 10-2 since inter-league play began in 1997.

Texas overcame an early 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead in the sixth, thanks in part to a solo homer by Michael Young and a two-run double from Marlon Byrd.

The Giants immediately regained the advantage, however, when Lewis hit his homer with Bengie Molina aboard. The shot came off Scott Feldman (5-2), who allowed eight hits.

Randy Johnson started for the Giants, but the Texas rally in the middle innings cost him a chance to record career win No. 302. The victory, instead, went to reliever Sergio Romo (1-0), the fourth of six San Francisco pitchers.

Brian Wilson picked up his 18th save.
