Khalil Greene hit a three-run homer and Albert Pujols had a two-run shot Saturday to power the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-1 inter-league win over Kansas City.
Chris Carpenter (5-1) gave up one run on three hits while striking out six in 7 2/3 innings for the Cardinals. Ryan Franklin pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his 17th save.
Yadier Molina was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for St. Louis, which has won four of its past five games.
Brian Bannister (5-4) allowed three runs on six hits in eight inning starts to take the loss.
Willie Bloomquist had the lone RBI for the Royals, who have lost four straight contests after a four-game winning streak. Kansas City had just five hits Saturday.
The start of the game was delayed about 90 minutes by rain.
