Nick Green’s ninth-inning solo homer Sunday lifted the Boston Red Sox to a 6-5 inter-league victory against the Atlanta Braves.

Green’s lone hit in the game snapped a 5-5 tie leading off the bottom of the ninth. One David Ortiz’s two hits was a two-run first-inning homer and Mark Kotsay had two hits for the Red Sox, who won twice in the three-game series.

The winner was closer Jonathan Papelbon (1-1).

Atlanta’s Brian McCann hit a two-run double in the first inning. Both Garret Anderson and Nate McLouth had two hits and one RBI, Gregor Blanco drove in a run and both Yunel Escobar and Martin Prado had three hits for the Braves, who have lost eight of 11.

The losing pitcher was reliever Jeff Bennett (2-4).

Atlanta Manager Bobby Cox and third baseman Chipper Jones were ejected in the bottom of the seventh by home plate umpire Bill Hohn for arguing balls and strikes.
