Tony Stewart crashes at N.H. qualifying
Tony Stewart was involved in a crash Friday during a practice run for the Sprint Cup Lenox Industrial Tools 301, the Charlotte Observer said.
The Observer report said the Sprint Cup points leader, last Sunday’s runner-up at the Toyota/Save Mart 350 in Sonoma, Calif., was not injured when he crashed, badly damaging his No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet, and will have to use a backup car Sunday.
I think we’re in a situation now where we can take a couple of extra chances if we feel like we might be able to get another win and pick up those 10 bonus points, he said last Sunday after starting in the rear for the second time this season because of a crash in qualifying.
The other time was on June 7 before the Pocono 500 at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa.
