MLB: Milwaukee 11, Chicago Cubs 2

July 4, 2009

Mike Cameron launched a three-run homer in a five-run first inning Saturday, starting Milwaukee’s 11-2 rout of the Chicago Cubs.

Later, Casey McGehee drove in a career-high five runs — two with a sixth-inning homer. McGehee collected four of the Brewers’ 14 hits.

J.J. Hardy hit a second-inning solo homer for the Brewers, who had lost three straight.

Winner Braden Looper (7-4) gave up two earned runs and six hits in six innings before three relievers mopped up.

Chicago’s runs scored on Milton Bradley’s two-run with none out in the bottom of the third, his sixth this season.

Mike Fontenot had two of the seven hits for the Cubs, whose three-game winning streak ended.

Losing pitcher Rich Harden (5-5) was shelled for seven earned runs and eight hits in two innings in his shortest outing in 2009.
