Chiefs cornerback handed four-game suspension
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Eric
Warfield has been suspended by the NFL for the first four games
of the 2005 season, the Kansas City Star reported on Tuesday,
citing a spokesperson for Warfield.
The 29-year-old Warfield received the suspension for
violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
The 6-foot, 200-pound defenseman pleaded no contest in
January to driving under the influence of alcohol after he was
arrested last September in Overland Park, Kansas.

An eight-year NFL veteran, Warfield was sentenced in March
to 10 days of jail, which he already served, followed by 80
days of house arrest.
