WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Eric Warfield has been suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the 2005 season, the Kansas City Star reported on Tuesday, citing a spokesperson for Warfield.
The 29-year-old Warfield received the suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
The 6-foot, 200-pound defenseman pleaded no contest in January to driving under the influence of alcohol after he was arrested last September in Overland Park, Kansas.
It was the third time in three years that Warfield was charged with drunk driving in Johnson County, the newspaper reported.
An eight-year NFL veteran, Warfield was sentenced in March to 10 days of jail, which he already served, followed by 80 days of house arrest.
