Woods bags 4th title of year, 69th overall
Tiger Woods shot a 3-under-par 69, finished at 20-under 268 and won his third Buick Open and 69th career title Sunday at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc, Mich.
The win was the fourth of the season for Woods and came two weeks after he missed the cut at the British Open.
The world’s top-ranked golfer, who led going into the final round, won by three shots over Roland Thatcher (64), Greg Chalmers (68) and John Senden (70).
The victory marked the 16th straight tournament Woods has won after holding at least a share of the lead after the third round.
Woods won $918,000.
It was just nice to come back after only playing two days in Europe, Woods said, in reference to the British Open, where he missed a tournament cut for only the second time in his career.
Woods said the Warwick Hills course
could be had in the final round.
There was very little wind, he said.
This afternoon it played a little bit trickier but you could still shoot a good number today. You just had to be patient out there, but also stay very focused because there were certainly a lot of distractions.
Woods also won the Buick in 2002 and 2006.
