Seattle’s Beltre comes off DL
August 4, 2009
Seattle Mariners third baseman Adrian Beltre came off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday.
The American League team designated infielder Chris Woodward for assignment to make room for Beltre.
Beltre had surgery in late June to remove bone spurs in his left shoulder. He had similar surgery last September.
The two-time Gold Glove winner is batting .259 with five home runs and 31 RBI in 73 games this season. Beltre is nearing the end of a five-year contract.
Woodward hit .239 with five RBI and seven runs scored in 20 games since being brought up from Class AAA Tacoma.
