Sportscaster Joe Buck says his mom, Carole Buck, is fine after having to flee from her burning home near St. Louis.
Mrs. Buck, widow of longtime baseball announcer Jack Buck, was shaken from her sleep early Tuesday by a fire alarm inside her upscale home in Ladue and got out just as the first fire engines were rolling up.
She woke up and by the time she was getting out of the house, she saw the flashing lights outside and it was illuminating smoke that was already inside the house,
Buck told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Firefighters said Mrs. Buck did not require medical attention and that the cause of the blaze was under investigation.
It took more than two hours to put the fire out and required units from six area fire departments.
