2nd suspect caught in Forrest killing
A second man was behind bars Thursday in the slaying of former boxing champion Vernon Forrest, but the alleged gunman was still at large, police said.
Jquante Crews, 25, was arrested late Wednesday at his brother’s home and charged with murder. Earlier, Damario Ware, 20, was arrested in the case and also charged with murder. Officers said neither was the shooter, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Forrest, a former WBA welterweight champion and twice the WBC light-middleweight champ, was shot to death early July 26 after a robbery in an Atlanta parking lot. He was 38.
Forrest had a 41-3 record and was considering comeback after an injury.
