MLB: Seattle 7, Tampa Bay 6 (11 innings)

Ryan Langerhans hit a two-run homer with two out in the 11th inning Friday, rallying Seattle to a 7-6 victory over Tampa Bay.

The Mariners tied the game with a four-run seventh, but that comeback appeared to have been wasted when Tampa Bay scored in the top of the 11th on a one-out homer by Jason Bartlett.

J.P. Howell (6-3) came out for his second inning of work in the bottom of the 11th and walked Franklin Gutierrez. Jack Wilson sacrificed Gutierrez to second, and Rob Johnson flied out to center.

Langerhans, needing a hit to keep the game alive, did more than that by blasting a 2-2 pitch over the wall in right.

Tampa Bay had a three-game winning streak snapped and missed a chance to gain ground on Boston in the American League wild-card race. The Rays are 2 1/2 games behind Boston and 1 1/2 games behind Texas in the chase.

Despite giving up the go-ahead homer in the top of the 11th, Shawn Kelley (4-1) picked up the victory.
