MLB: Minnesota 11, Cleveland 0
Scott Baker gave up two hits and threw the second shutout of his career Friday as Minnesota trounced Cleveland 11-0.
Baker (10-7) hit the first batter he faced, then retired nine in a row. The only other two base runners he allowed came on a lead-off double by Asdrubal Cabrera in the fourth and a one-out single by Jhonny Peralta in the seventh.
The shutout came in his 101st career start. He has spent all of his five years in the majors with Minnesota and threw his other shutout in 2007.
Jason Kubel supported Baker with five RBI, and the Twins produced 12 hits while staying within five games of division-leading Detroit in the American League Central.
Kubel had an RBI single in the third, singled in two more during a six-run fourth and added a two-run homer in the sixth.
Justin Masterson (3-4) suffered the loss, allowing six runs on six hits in 3 1/3. He also walked six.
