MLS: Seattle 2, Los Angeles 0
A 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy Saturday night moved Seattle Sounders FC into second place in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference table.
The game gave the Sounders a 1-0 advantage on a Steve Zakuani goal after David Beckham was sent off the field for a studs-up tackle on Peter Vagenas.
Seattle scored again when striker Fredy Montero pounced on a kick from Nate Jaqua and fired the ball past Donovan Ricketts to make it 2-0.
Sounders defender Tyrone Marshall earned his second yellow card and the Galaxy’s Eddie Lewis was shown a straight red for striking a Sounders’ player in the head.
The Galaxy (7-4-10) travel to Chicago Wednesday while the Sounders (8-5-8) host New England Thursday in their next MLS match.
