Carlos Lee put Houston in front with a two-run homer in the fourth Thursday and the Astros held Florida to four hits in downing the Marlins 4-1.

It was the first time in 16 games Florida had not recorded at least 10 hits. Their streak of 15 such games equaled the longest in the history of the major leagues, allowing them to share the all-time record with the 1929 New York Giants and 1937 St. Louis Browns.

The four Florida hits were allowed by Wandy Rodriguez (12-7), who worked eight innings for the win. In 12 home starts this season, Rodriguez is 7-2.

Jose Valverde turned in a 1-2-3 ninth for his 18th save.

Florida held a 1-0 lead before Miguel Tejada opened the fourth with a single. Tejada scored in front of Lee’s 21st homer of the season and Hunter Pence added a solo shot later in the inning.

Rodriguez helped his own cause with an RBI double in the fifth. It was his second RBI of the season and the seventh of his five-year career.

Josh Johnson (12-3) lasted just 4 1/3 innings, giving up the four runs on seven hits. Johnson had won his previous five decisions.

Florida, which lost the final two games of the series, fell four games behind Colorado in the National League wild-card race.
