NBA suspends Jason Richardson
The NBA has suspended Phoenix Suns guard Jason Richardson for two games without pay after his guilty plea to driving under the influence.
The DUI violated Arizona state law.
His guilty plea followed an arrest for DUI last December, nine days after he was acquired from the Charlotte Bobcats.
The Arizona Republic said the 6-foot-6 inch Richardson had been suspended by the Suns for a game without pay on Feb. 18 after a second incident in which he entered a guilty plea to two misdemeanor speeding charges and a count of endangerment for a Feb. 15 case when his son was a passenger.
The newspaper said he received three years probation, an alcohol-education class and community service, but the team’s attempt to reduce the NBA suspension failed.
No comment was available from either Richardson or the Suns.
